Stopping running applications without root.

Need help on this.
One of my macros launches a couple of application on connecting to a Bluetooth device. However, I am unable to find a clean way to stop the applications on being disconnected from the Bluetooth device. I have a non rooted OP6T. How can it be done .
Thanks.

You mean the thing you have to re-apply every time your reboot your device. That is not something that I'm prepared to consider for MacroDroid as I don't think it's viable for most of my user base to do this and I know for a fact that many people don't read or forget details and will be complaining when it stops working.

Unless I'm misunderstanding what is needed here couldn't you just use MacroDroid to run any of the various task killer apps ('force stop') that are available on the app store at the end of your macro? Of course you should setup this type of app's white/black list to only 'force stop' the apps that you need stopped.

I use this method in one of my macros (even though I'm now rooted and could use MacroDroid's 'Kill Application' instead) just for simplicity.

These type of apps do need Accessibility permission though.

I happen to use 'Hibernator', and this task killer also has a 'Hibernate then Sleep' activity, so at the end of my macro it runs, stops the apps, and locks the screen.

Maybe it's helpful for non rooted users.

Link doesn't seem to work?

Also, does MacroDroid not also have the ability to perform a 'Force Stop' action (like most of these generic Task Killers do?). That might simplify things for non-Root users.
MacroDroid can kill background processes without root. The macro I made whose link is above, is just like Greenify (only I don't sell your data like greenify does). You need to allow the browser to launch applications and have MacroDroid installed before opening the link

Thanks, that may be useful for some non-Root users.

Although maybe it would be simpler for less technical users just for MacroDroid to have the 'Force Stop' functionality included natively? Promoting that feature might even be a way to bring some extra users over to MacroDroid from all those other apps (that may also have privacy issues)?

PS: I'm viewing the forum on my laptop and the link doesn't work from there. I'm not sure if the Template Store can't be viewed from the desktop, or it's a problem with the new forum?

Either way maybe it's something that @MacroDroidDev could fix?

Hmm... We are getting a bit off topic here, but regarding this troublesome Template Store link:

- I opened this thread in the forum inside MacroDroid on my phone, clicked the link above to the Template Store, and instead got the following after turning off my ad blocker.

- I also copied the link and opened it directly in my browser (Kiwi Browser) and I get the same result.

Something doesn't seem correct @MacroDroidDev It looks like an advertisement. Hosting issue? Link incorrect?

I see this issue a lot. I simply don't know what I can suggest apart from searching the store for id=1234
Where 1234 is the actual macro ID

yes I did that earlier after @FrameXX suggested it. But I figured that @MacroDroidDev would want to check and fix whatever this error is?

Another small question - I searched for the id, and I starred it as a favourite, but I don't seem to see a list of those favourite macros anywhere?

I hope it gets fixed soon too.

Putting a star shows the person who made the macro, that you like it or found it useful. If you click the blue and press the add button at the bottom right it will add to your macro list and you can find it by pressing the last edited tile from home screen. Just keep in mind that, particularly with my macros, they get updated to fix bugs but MacroDroid won't tell you when there's changes

Ah ok, thanks! I guess I could add Macros that are "interesting but I don't need to use right now" to my Macro List and just disable them (and maybe make my own Favourites category) but I really thought that feature would be built in to the store.

Sorry for the off topic issues, but I'm back to MacroDroid after an extended period away from it and now with a rooted phone running LineageOS - so as we know that combination means almost endless possibilities

Hopefully I've added something to the discussion too, even for the OP (use Jacob's Macro or MacroDroid + a Task Killer to solve your issue).

@jmh2002 I think this is an issue with the Kiwi browser. When clicking the link they should be seeing if any app wants to handle a link, but instead they just handle it all internally.

Back to the main point of this thread. Could someone please list a selection of apps that can kill apps on a non-rooted device and I will take a look at exactly what they are doing. I would certainly like to add the ability to kill apps on non-rooted device as this will be popular I'm sure.
