In fact it's the same problem if I try to insert a 'send email' action.
It applies to a new action (send SMS or send email) or if I attempt to edit an existing one.
Thanks for your suggestion. I will fiddle with it some more and then maybe send to to the developer when I have tried everything...
I wonder if anyone else has hit this problem:
I have a long macro that takes an incoming SMS, edits it, and then forwards it to my other phone.
Today I suddenly find that I cannot 'configure' the existing 'send SMS' action: MD just stops. I can't insert a new 'send SMS': the same thing...
MD was able to speak again after I installed ESpeak, but is used a very deep robotic voice. It seemed to ignore the settings that I set on the voice.
So, I installed Vocaliser (from the play store, buying the voice 'Kate'). Initially MD did not seem to recognise the new default speech engine...
Thank you Jacob,
I don't fully understand what you are suggesting. I don't actually use google TTS, so I'm not looking for a replacement. But somehow google TTS messes with macrodroid's TTS abilities.
or do you mean that if I install ESpeak then MD will no longer be affected by google TTS...
More news: TTS stopped working again in macrodroid this morning. This time I went straight to google play and uninstalled/installed "Speech services by google Google LLC". Macrodroid then worked fine again.
While I was in google play I read the recent reviews of "Speech services by google...
changing the macrodroid setting of "spoken text audio stream" does not help. Nor does "Language to speak" i tried US english and then UK. Both are "fully supported" but don't work.
I guess the next thing to try is a factory reset. I can't do that this week because the phone is needed.
I just uninstalled MD and then reinstalled it. (I backed up all the macros first). Speak Text still does not work.
But I have discovered something: even in the phone settings "text to speech output" I get silence when I press "listen to an example". This suggests it is a phone problem, not...
I have this problem also. I have many macros that speak text and all of them have abruptly stopped speaking. The 'play sound' action still works.
On another phone, which has not updated for a while, it still works.
The system log says "accessibility serivce must be enabled to access the...
i have a related problem: speak text has stopped working. the system log says i need to enable accessibility, but that seems to be all on.

Ah, but I changed to Vodafone for a specific reason. I often 'work at home' from a boat in the remote fens of eastern England and I need to do video-conferencing. Vodafone has good signal there, but EE does not.
Maybe it's unrelated, but yesterday I changed from EE to Vodafone (with the same phone, merely swapped the SIM card) and Macrodriod lost all its permissisons.
