Best Macro to prevent SMS Delays?

I've noticed that from time to time SMS texts do not arrive. Today it was a dentist's appointment, maybe they have some kind potentially of bad news filter?
The dentist's sms only came after I'd sent another sms to a friend so they must be getting clogged somewhere. To make matters more interesting, I also use WiFi calling all the time that I'm at home so that may be the cause.
So, I'm thinking along the lines of a macro to automatically send an SMS at predetermined times to a spare number that I have, a macro to reboot every night, a macro to stop & start the messaging app.
I'm fairly sure I can craft one of the above without too much difficulty but wondered if anyone has been here before and had some ideas about the best approach?

Any thoughts, most welcome..

Thanks

Use a day time trigger and a send SMS action.

I use WiFi Calling with airplane mode enabled and sms messages arrive on time. So I don't think using WiFi Calling is the cause of the issue.

It might be worth resetting the network settings and checking all the sms related settings.

Thanks for the replies, it's difficult to know if it's something to do with my phone, the messaging app or the carrier. Yesterday I cleared the messaging app (MS SMS Organizer) cache and today a test message came straight through. A bit off topic so apologies, but I'm not sure how SMS works, does anyone know if the phone periodically checks & pulls or are messages pushed to the phone?

Message should always be pushed to the phone ? I rarely experience your issue, something like 1-3 times a year.

Are you sure airplane mode is on? Because I really don't understand how SMSs arrive with the cell radio off.

PS
Sorry for the OT...

Yes....airplane mode is on.
Where I live the mobile phone signal is poor. I get 1 bar at best. So when I'm at home connected to WiFi, I turn on airplane mode - this really helps the battery life.
I can confirm that wifi calling supports both calls and sms. I was doubtful initially and pleasantly surprised when I found I could send and receive SMS in airplane mode with WiFi Calling enabled.
I dont know if its network dependent. I am on the 3 network.

As above, SMS over WiFi calling does work. It was / may still be the case that not all networks support this, but Three in the UK for sure do.
I use ID Mobile which is a Three MVNO. The signal coverage is very poor where I live so WiFi calling is essential. I have a macro running which puts my phone into airplane mode whenever in range of my home WiFi, and an ADB tweak to automatically allow WiFi while in airplane mode. I have another macro to turn airplane mode off when out of range.
Since doing some testing by using another phone to send messages to my main phone, none have gone missing or been delayed. It may be better now because I've also changed from the MS SMS Organiser to the the Google Messenger app.

Is it possible to clear an app cache via MacroDroid, does a reboot do the same thing?
