Bluetooth Button Press = Run Macro?

Hey there, I've been trying to figure out a way to achieve a specific setup for a while now. But I'm just not having any luck, was wondering if anyone on the forums might have any ideas?

Basically, I am trying to figure out a way to have two physical bluetooth buttons each run a different macro. Does anyone have any ideas or clues as to how I might get this to work? I have all the Macros setup and functioning, im just missing the BT button as the trigger to execute them.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------

Longer explanation:

The use for this is that we play a lot of airsoft at my in laws, so I have a macro setup currently that's connected to a button widget on my homescreen. When I tap the button and put the phone down it automates an entire 5min match through a bluetooth speaker:

  1. 20second match start countdown (mp3 file)

  2. Play Spotify playlist

  3. (wait 3 minutes)

  4. Pause Spotify

  5. Play 2 minute warning (mp3 file)

  6. Play Spotify

  7. (wait 1min 50sec)

  8. Pause Spotify

  9. 10 Second Countdown (mp3 file)

  10. Play end of match audio (mp3 file)

  11. Macro stops

This works beautifully, however, I would like to expand on this by using bluetooth buttons to create a"domination" or "control the point" game mode. So there are two buttons in the middle of the field, Red and Blue. If the red team hit the red button, it plays a "Red team controls the point" audio recording, and if the timer ends with red team holding the point it then ends the match with a "Red team won the round" audio recording (and vice versa for blue team).

I've no doubt I can create that set of macros as well, but the issue im running into is obtaining and setting up some type of bluetooth buttons that can execute those macros when pressed?

You could always use another smartphone as the "buttons." Put the phone in the center and make two "floating button" triggers with large icons, and use a different webhook function for each one.

Or wait: why not just use your own phone that way, unless that would put it too far from the speaker...?

This is actually quite an interesting idea, I've never thought about that. I'm going to expirement with this. Thanks!

As for why I don't want to put my own phone as the button. I want to keep my phone off the field and out of harm's way lol. But two cheap Android phones could do the trick for this.

have you tried the "media button pressed" and/or "media button v2" triggers?
I briefly looked at this but haven't actually tried that yet. I think I'll try and get my hands on a physical BT media control button, and expirement with that setting also. Thanks!

If anyone is curious about this, I was able to achieve this setup. But instead of a BT button I used an old keyboard I had, and a USB C to USB adapter with a 10ft USB extension. I then used a key mapping app, and remapped keys on the keyboard to run each of the two macros.

The next step, build a wooden box with some buttons that can press the keyboard and execute the macro.

that's a good idea, i was thinking a while ago to get a bluetooth numpad to use that as a sort of remote for macrodroid, sounds like that might actually work aswell!

Yah that should definitely work! I wanted to go the BT keyboard or numpad route also. But I have to put it in a wooden box to protect it from the elements outside, and didn't want to have connectivity issue because of that.

But yah get the app "Button Remapper" and you can remap any key on the numpad to run any macro from MacroDroid (see screenshot).
