just to clarify, I did not mean to say that the waits caused the issue
I loaded the macro, removed the waits and tested it and I got correct results immediately

it's true that I tested with newer version (5.20.10)
but your calculations are essentially the same as in a similar routine I have to convert seconds to hours, minutes, seconds

my guess is something to do with your plugin call which messes the initial value of seconds
since you didn't get incorrect results sometimes but all 0 as you said
ie. as if the seconds at start was 0

That helps to narrow things as well. I am in the beta program and running 5.21.3 as of earlier this evening so there may have been a bug in 5.21.2.

Probably, in this case, nothing is wrong in any MD versions. OP strongly believe the variable should always append the updated logs, but it happens when the value changes.
