Macrodroid should have no problems.

And about the speed, macrodroid should be fine but you must also remember that android go is for devices with a not very powerful hardware, the more saturated the phone is the response will not be the fastest and that applies to all apps not only for macrodroid, remembering all that google apps and 3ros do in the background, I would not be surprised what the system can be more aggressive killing applications in the background to try to go with a higher performance, nothing dontkillmyapp.com can not solve in most situations.

well actually i am also worried about killing apps. i have a phone, an alcatel 4GB/64GB cheap one and no matter what ido (put the whitelist or disable completely the battery feature) it keeps killing apps (besides macrodroid) is it normal for a phone to have the apps in white list and still kill them? how do u think of that? other phones do it as well?

Depends on manufacturer. Stock Android without additions is very fine, but when some manufacturer comes in place they usually tend to add some extra more agressive battery optimizations, so the phone lasts at least as long as without the other bloat the added in and whitelisted of course. I have no problem with battery optimizations, but user should always be in full and also easy control of what apps and how much are optimized.
