MD will not open now.

I've been using MacroDroid on my Samsung for a month or so with no issues. Since last time it was running correctly, I've changed no phone settings, have not downloaded and new apps, have not let phone be updated since Oct 20th. I've restarted the phone.

The kicker is I have the download from here so I tried to install it a few minutes ago and I get a message from MD saying my phone is not compatible with MacroDroid and won't be installed.

Little stressful . I've spent every waking hour writing macros and I'm suddenly dead in the water now..

Can anyone shed any light on any known issues or possible causes?

I even went to Google play and the only option they give me there is to uninstall. Is Google the cause for my problem?

If I uninstall to try and reinstall, will there be a way to get my macros? Actually I have no clue how to get them as we speak without MD actually opening.

If AutoBackup is working, the macro can be rescued by copying the .mdr.

Thanks will try to do that. This past update was The October, but I've been running the same macros all day everyday without issue. Until today. I don't think the update messed with anything otherwise it probably would've stopped working in October. I'm definitely no expert, just guessing 😁

It just dawned on me to check my other phone. I have two identical models with identical everything. The other one is working so now I'm really confused. The only thing that is not identical, would be the actual macros I've made. Wondering if this is a macro causing it..

Far as it gets. Instant full white screen that goes away after a second. Then about a minute later, the pop up. Screenshot_20221118-180232_One UI Home.jpgScreenshot_20221118-180509_Accessibility.jpg

Got the mdr, thanks so much for your reply. One less thing to stress about. I will install MD and try to reinstall now.

Before importing macros deactivate MacroDroid and before activating it check that there are no macros with dead-end loops

Most likely what it is for sure. Looks like the problem arrived from user error. Me lol.. I'm guessing it's something I wrote as it failed every one minute in the background. I have a couple scripts that are on infinite loop every one minute. Thanks for the help guys. Followed some suggestions here. Found all my backups and saved them. Reinstalled MD as well. No errors. Some of my macros have http request. I'm guessing since I didn't change anything on my end with the macros, that something has changed on the endpoints I'm sending request to causing whatever was happening.

Next goal is rooting my phone. I keep hitting roadblocks with not having it rooted. I see so many things I'm not able to do with MD due to being rooted. Kind of nervous to do it though as I've never rooted a phone before. I've worked w android studio and debug, adb etc so it's probably not as bad as I am thinking it is. I may take the plunge this weekend and try it. Reading around, I take it magisk would be the way but not totally sure.

Have you looked at doing the ADB hack? It's much safer than rooting and doesn't void any warranty.

Other users have reported this issue happens when launching MacroDroid from a desktop shortcut, but the app will still launch when loaded normally from the app drawer.

For any users who stumble over this thread in future, I suggest you try deleting the shortcut and create a new one as this may help in this case.
