Subcategory's

i think it would be really nice to have the ability to add subcategory's to category's!

for example, we could have a "smart home" category with multiple subcategory's (lights/heating/cooling etc..)

it's not something that we necessarily need, but i do think it would be great to have this option!

What you could do is to precede each macro name with a number of 1 or 2 digits indicating the kind of subcategory it belongs to.

You also could replace the digits by a letter (or couple of letters). In your example you would have (with L for lights, H for Heating, C for Cooling):
L-macro1
L-macro2
L-macro3
H-macro1
H-macro2
C-macro1

For more fun, you even can replace digits or letters by emojis which are even more explicit.

that is how i'm doing it right now (with a digit in front + having them in the same colour) thanks for the tip though :ROFLMAO:

I really need this in my life, my list of macro's and categories is getting out of control again.. 😅

I'm well aware that the developer is very busy with many other great things but is there any chance that subcategories will ever be added? or should i just find another way to organize my macro's better? :p

Maybe it was not such a good idea after all, it might just make things more complicated instead of more clear.. i just imagined myself having a macro inside a subcategory burried within a bunch of other subcategories within a main category, i would probably never find it again.. 😂 😂

Here's an idea:
- Use categories as subcategories with a name beginning with a 2 or 3 digit number (the first number will represent the major category it belongs to)
- Colour these categories begining with the same number with a specific colour.

You also could put the same emoji/symbol at the very beginning of the name of each subcategory belonging to the same major category.

Hope it'll help.

Definitely this, even just the ability to nest categories would be a big help in organising macros. I have macros which call other macros as subroutines and the whole categories and macros list is getting silly. It would be really useful to be able to have some sort of container other than putting them in their own category.

I could use a naming/colour system but this does nothing to reduce the cluttered feel.

All my macros used as subroutines/functions (i.e. called by other macros) many years ago are gathered in a category called '10-Functions' and could be divided in '11-A type functions', '12-B type functions' and so on...

It's a suggestion which is enough to me.
