Use alternative template link.

It happens every now and then that people try to open MacroDroid template links and they're confused when they get a 404 error after the link opens in the browser instead of MacroDroid.

I know there's not much you can do about this as it's up to the system or the user.

But what you could do is to put some rescue landing page that would tell the user what happened and how to fix it or how to get to the template. The problem is that AFAIK you don't own the macrodroidlink.com domain. I assume that because it takes me to Hostinger when I load it. So I suggest you use macrodroid.com/macrostore?id=xxxx instead.

This doesn't have to be a problem. You can still make MacroDroid open the macrodroidlink.com links so it's backward compatible and just add this one and use it when generating the copyable url of the template for the user. Now just add a simple page to macrodroid.com/macrostore that describes what happened, why the user shouldn't be there in the first place, and how to fix it. It doesn't have to be anything special, just less confusing than a 404 error screen.

I know this is a lot of work, but it could save a lot of confusion for some users.

(I have no problem creating simple HTML landing site, which should be fair enough if you ask for it).

I originally wanted to ask the developer to add troubleshooting steps in the 404 page, but what you wrote here is a good idea too. That reminds me too, one day I noticed macrodroidlink.com was hosted by Hostinger.
