I also have a bigger problem which forces me to cancel the rights of MacroDroid especially for the rights of "overlay on other application" because this prevents all interaction with my device and I am practically no longer able to tap on my screen.

I had to deactivate macrodroid!

I'm trying the open call log action on 5.46.4

I'm using Google dialer and the open call log didn't work prior to the latest beta.

However, I have an observation and wondered if this is the expected behaviour

The open call log action opens the dialer on the last used screen.

If the last used screen was contacts, that's what I see when I test the open call log action, not the call log!

If the last used screen was recent, the open call log action shows the call log.

I thought the open call log action would always show the call log.

Yeah I thought it should show the call log as well, but apparently not.

I've spent some time looking for a reliable way to make this happen and cannot find anything that works. I think I'm going to stop wasting time on this and perhaps just remove the action if I can work out if it was a particular version of Android that it stopped working from. It's not really an important/well used action in any case.

I tried the open call log action after seeing the 5.46.4 change log.
I don't have any plans to use it in a macro and wouldn't miss it, if it was removed .

After further experimentation I think I will restore the old functionality as it works on some devices (even with Android 14). I will just add a big warning that it does not work on all devices so people can still try it if they want.

My submission of the beta to the Play Store (5.46.3) has now been sitting in review for about a week. This release has a new Google bullshit barrier to go through as I've updated the target SDK to 34 I am now required to specify the foreground service type and have to justify why I need this. I have to use the "special use" flag because MacroDroid doesn't fit into the narrow use cases they allow.

I have no idea if they will allow it through review or not, or how much longer it is going to take but it's all out of my control at this stage so I continue to wait.....

Hi, this is a bug from 5.45 but that discussion is already closed. It's still not fixed on 5.46.4
Edge notification light:
If you set the duration to 0 (then save) and then disable "auto hide after delay" the edge light will not display.

Some apps have functionality where they will open to a specific screen or to the last used and can be changed in settings. The new launch app activity should be a better way for people to get the the screens they want anyhow. This dialer has such setting: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.simpler.dialer

Apologies that this beta is taking forever to get through. Unfortunately my submissions to the Play Store just sit in review for a very long time and I have a new version ready with fixes before it even gets released. The Play Store beta is important because this goes to many 1000s of users so there can be crashes and issues found that don't effect the small number of users who download it here.

Ultimately there is not a lot I can do about it, but it does seem like MacroDroid gets heavily scrutinized for every single update which really limits how fast I can do releases.

I noticed that "kill apps" is still root only, Shizuku can do this, I know because pm force-stop works with shell script action and Shizuku option ticked
