who mistakenly underestimates the potential of macrodroid

I asked an Italian youtuber for suggestions on home automation applications related to macrodroid, and this was his answer:

I understood what macro-drioid is, also I used 6-7 years ago a similar thing for home automation, Tasker. But there is much better now, it doesn't make sense anymore to do home automation that uses the smartphone as a "hub" to manage the automations. Home automation systems have much more advanced and easy-to-help device handlers, as well as hosting the automations themselves in their hubs.

I'm of the opinion that the guy is still stuck at 7 years ago', it's true that hub-based systems are perhaps easier to use and optimised for plug and play people,
but i think that those are all closed systems, even if they are good, and i think that the potential of macrodroid is so great that it is beyond the imagination of these people.
who can help me give them a good answer.
thank you very much mirrorless

I think that sentence sums the situation up pretty well.

Often the closed systems are very good, and easy plug and play, so that is a huge advantage - the disadvantage is that they are, well, closed... :D

I think I prefer the potential of both to be honest.

A plug and play system (closed or open) to get many of the basic tasks done, because it's just easier and all the equipment talks to each other.

But then Macrodroid can perhaps be used for the more advanced tasks, or where the use case hasn't been considered in the closed system.

Using a plug and play system that also has an android app and/or receives commands from android might be the best of both worlds?

A combination of the simplicity of an 'off the shelf' system with the raw power and customisation of MacroDroid?

My 2 cents :)

I fully agree with what you have written, I will show these messages to those who mistakenly underestimate macrodroid, telling them, thanking them, that perhaps they are still too tied to the old experience of 7 years ago with MD.
