Hi!
I have tried to find a way to do that auto power feature for my tablet which I want to use in a car....
So it would be very nice to get tablet power on when I start the car and power off when car is ignition off.

I have even two different tablet possibilties... Samsung Tab A7 Lite and Lenovo Tab M10 HD 2. Gen.
Samsung is now rooted... tried different methods found in the web... no success... tried differend apps.... no success either.
Problem could be also in the user :)...
Last effort has been your Macrodroid.... I somehow managed to get that power off when charger removed action works!!!
But that power on when charger connected doesn´t work... is it even possible??
Hope someone can help or point to right direction...

Of course if that is easier to do in the Lenovo tab for some reasons, then I do that...
Last time I have tried in the Samsung because I thought root will help in some cases.... I didn´t manage even to root that Lenovo yet...
Thanks in advance!

I doubt you can power on on a specific trigger. Your system may have a feature to power on at a certain time, but I don’t think it has a feature to power on with a trigger.

There is no way any software will be able to power on a device I'm afraid as the device must be on for the software to run.

Hello,

I don't know if I can help. I have a macro which talks "Power on" or "Power off" When dis-/connecting USB-Power. This belongs to the standard-commands. This recognition is easy and works. I added for test "Screen on / screen off" (with german commands) - it works too

Hi!
That sounds interesting. Could you share how you did that?

Trigger: USB/Power = on or off
Action 1: Talk "text" (text = Power on / Power off)
Action 2: Display on /off
Thanks!
Althought I can´t get it work... but that is probably because I´m not very good at using macrodroid... still trying to find those right "commands" to choose from

First of all do you want to turn the screen or the device on/off ?
If you want to turn the device on, I'm afraid you will not able do that.
It is much easier to turn the screen on/off.

I want to turn the device on.
Idea is to put that tablet to my car and use it as a navigator / dashboard and so on.... so tablet stays at the car whole time.... that´s why it would be nice if the tablet turns on when I start the car and turn off when I shut down the car.... Car could stay sometimes few days without driving, so it drains tablets battery if it stays on whole time.

But it seems that auto power on when charging is not possible with any app... I have to figure out some other way to do it.
I thought that user "Lupus52" manage to do that, but maybe I misunderstand or that doesn´t work in my tab.

Their proposition is different of what you are trying to achieve.

Even if most devices "turn on" when charging, they don't fully turn on, I believe it's just to keep track of the battery.

Just a word of advice.
Be careful that there may be hw problems with the tablet, especially the battery and display, in the summer heat and winter cold if the car is not indoors.
I don't know where you reside, carefully consider this

Yeah I know that... I live in Finland, so maybe that cold winter issue could be here.... and of course sometimes in summer, at least in direct sunlight it might be too hot in a car.... But it seems now that I can´t do that "auto power operation" so it become little meaningless to use tablet in a car in that use... If I have to manually switch power on when I get into car and switch power off when I leave the car... too complicated

The problem is turning on, turning off is feasible, e.g.
T=Power disconnected
A=Power off
It may be appropriate to insert a delay of 20-30 seconds and add the Power disconnected constraint to the action to avoid shutdown due to a brief positioning of the ignition key to Off

Yes, that turning on is a problem.... tried to edit those "start/boot/ files" among some instructions in the web.... but can´t edit/rename those boot files.... access denied or something... can´t change access rights... still trying to find some solution...
But that power off works just fine with macrodroid.... even I managed to creat that macro :) How can I insert / set that delay to that power off macro? Sorry that I´m not good at this app ?
