Daydream On Action not working

I have the Sreensaver/Daydream setup in my settings for "On Charge", and if I plug my phone in and just wait it does eventually run on its own as expected.

I setup a new macro with an Action that is just Daydream On, and then tried Test Action and it didn't do anything. I tried plugging my phone in and then testing the action, and it still did nothing. I've tried changing which screen saver is used in the Android settings and it also made no difference.

In all cases the log says it ran and nothing else, but nothing happens.

I'm on Android 14 on a Calyxos device with no Google Framework (in case it's related?).

Is this an Android 14 limitation or something? Is there some other condition I need to setup first? I just want to be able to trigger the Daydream immediately from a shortcut rather than waiting for the screen to timeout, but I can't get the mode to start from an automation.

Can you please clarify if you are wanting to use the trigger or action because the title says the trigger is not working but the description sounds very much like you are trying to use the action.

It's definitely possible that this action could be broken on Android 14 as it's very rarely used and because of this it's not something that gets a lot of testing. If you submit a bug report via the troubleshooting section I can take a look and see if I can reproduce on Android 14.

From troubleshooting report:

> I've been looking into this and can't find a way to do this on Android 14 I'm afraid. It looks like they killed the only way it can be launched in Android 13 so I have little choice but to disable this feature for Android 13 and above.

I think I saw that Android 13 or 14 was deprecating the Screen Saver function, so I guess that's not a total surprise. The closest option for having a bedside clock on my phone seems to be to enable Always-On-Display at night. It certainly works better than the built in Clock Screen Saver.

Just to follow up for others...

I'm afraid this feature no longer appears to be supported so I've had to remove support for it in the latest Android versions.
