Gestures not working in overlays?

I'm trying to get the gesture action to work in a situation that involves a screen overlay. Example: I would like to pull down the notification drawer and then with the gestures action click on a button. All actions in the macro work just fine until the click on the button must be made. MD doesn't do that. I suspect that it has something to do with the screen overlay because gestures work perfectly fine without any overlay. Another example: to call the power on/off menu; this produces a small square in the middle of the screen with the options to power off the device, reboot it, lock it or call emergency services. A gesture click doesn't activate any of these buttons.

Anyone else experiencing this? Is there a workaround?

Does it have to do something with permissions then? Display over other apps permission had been granted for MD on my device though.

I don't think it will be related to permissions in any way as there should be no difference between normal UI Interaction and interacting with the notification panel.

Are you using the X,Y location as well or something else?

No, I'm using the X,Y location with the help of the app Screen Coordinates. So the coordinates are correct
