I'm not following this in depth because my phone is rooted which circumvents these problems for me but I did notice the following recent comment so maybe Google is finally starting to listen?

Tested with both a Nokia 8.3 5G (Running Android One [Stock Android]) and a OnePlus 9 Pro (Running OxygenOS)"
