How to switch to pattern from fingerprint?

I'd like to switch the unlock method to pattern after dark because fingerprint sensor light is painful.

How do I change the unlock method??

You could try using secure settings plugin inside macrodroid.
It used to work few years/android versions ago. I can't really tell now.
I am pretty sure your device needs to be rooted for it

I know you can prevent fingerprint by using the scren off - lock screen action.

Yeah... but wouldn't it turn off the screen quite literally?

Yes. There is not much else you can use.
Maybe you can do it with adb. I honestly have no idea

What version of Android is your phone using?

Unfortunately Google has progressively prevented apps from doing simple things in Android 11+, all in the name of improving security. So it's highly unlikely that the OS will permit app access to security.

I think the only way of changing the unlock method will be via UI Interaction and require the PIN to be input to gain access to the security pages. All that is feasible using MD, but is likely to be time consuming to write the macro that automates the steps you perform to manually change the unlock method AND will only work with the screen on.
