Ok Google run "macroname" in MacroDroid

Hi,

The latest production release of MacroDroid should now support running commands via the Google assistant, specifically via the command:

Ok Googe run "macroname" in MacroDroid.

You need to have your device language set to English and your Google assistant set to English. I have read it needs English US but it seems to work for me on English UK as well.

I'm interested to know if this is working for anybody as so far I've only heard that it's not working. If you are able to test this an confirm if this works or not for you I am very interested to find out.

Appears to not be working for me, even with both languages set to English (United States). Samsung S10e / Android 11.

Not working on my wife's phone account either, so I think I jumped the gun assuming this is now working.

I will now declare that Ok Google works in MacroDroid as long as you are me and have my Google account!

The plot thickens. So it appears the assistant does work on other accounts if you give it the exact command:

"Run macroname in MacroDroid - Device Automation" (I needed to type this to get it to work reliably).

So it seems like the name is coming from the Play Store app name in this case. The good news is I've got a real human being engaged on this issue at Google who I'm hopeful will help me resolve this. Today I feel very special!

I have this response from Google:

We understand the you’d rather not remove the “ - device automation” part of your App name. We’ve checked this with our team and you should be able to use either MacroDroid - Device Automation or MacroDroid when invoking your intents. With this in mind, we’re already tracking the issue internally and plan to address it. We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause you.

For the meantime, we require no actions from your end. We’ll let you know as soon as we hear from our team. We appreciate your patience as we investigate this further.

I'm happy to say that Google have come through on this one and in this limited area the support was brilliant.

You can now run macros via the Google assistant with the following commands:

Ok Google

run 'macroname' in MacroDroid
start 'macroname' in MacroDroid
run macro called 'macroname' in MacroDroid
