Save Default notification sound setting and restore it later

I'd like to have periods when I can hear phone calls but not notifications. I know I could just "hardcode" the desired sound in the "Set Notification Sound" action, but I'd like to know if it's possible to

• Remember what "Default notification sound" setting is, before I change it with "Set Notification Sound"
• Set "Default notification sound" setting back to the remembered value (don't see how I can use "Set Notification Sound" for that)

To mute you can use the "set variable" action to store the notification volume level, then the action of setting the notification volume to zero.
To restore the volume use the action set volume (use notification only) and as a value enter the variable
