Trouble with incoming Sms trigger

Is it possible to change the trigger to incoming message?

Both my and my wife's Android did not send SMS by default, using Android messages. I have to turn it on, on a per contact basis, it seems.

I was trying to invoke a trigger from her phone several times until I realized this was an issue. In the message details, I turned on always send SMS and it worked.

I set up a text word to trigger a response in the case that she or her phone is lost.

I need this to be able to come from any number in case something happens to me and I need her to answer, it'll turn off so not disturb, turn up volume, turn on the light, speak text, etc.

But if I send it from another phone that doesn't default send SMS, it won't work.

Thanks

Are you talking about about RCS messages? If your wife is using Google Messages you need to turn off RCS messages (called 'chat features' inside app) if you want MacroDroid to invoke on some messages or use notification trigger instead.

MacroDroid can't recognize RCS messages via SMS trigger, only way is to use notification trigger.

I'm not sure but Monitor Inbox option has possibility to help OP as the picture on #2.
Normally, it doesn't need to turn on just receiving regular SMS text though.
I guess it is for some special messages which have no regular length digits caller id such as account related messages from contractors. I sometimes encountered them when I used some temporary local prepaid SIM cards in overseas. I'm not sure these kind of SMS are popular or not in the specific countries.
As FrameXX mentioned, using notification trigger is good alternative option. Another RCS tech based texts might be similar to Google's. In any situations, notification is effective when you actually turned on and have no issues such as unexpected delays.

She is using the messages so that comes with Pixel, I am using Android messages I downloaded from play store. (USA, AT&T)

Until I went to the chat details and selected only send SMS.

After that, it worked.

I don't know what RCS is.

Google substitute of SMS. However it works only in limited set of apps and is far from perfect. It's missing any open API implementation that other apps and developers (like MacroDroid) could use.

So Google Messages.

It does work now? Nice!
Yes, when I selected that setting, but it likely will NOT work from a number that does not have that selection selected.

It will work from MY phone, but not a random one, as I want it to be set to do, in case if emergency.

It should work with most of the other phones if they are not using Google Messages app and do not have RCS (chat features) enabled.
