It would be convenient if the various functions inherent to WiFi (e.g., SSID in range, WiFi connected to, etc.), were possible without location enabled for rooted terminals.

I'm trying to find a way to automate "airplane mode" when being home based on Wi-Fi being connected or not and it currently works fine but it is checking location every 5 minutes and I am really not sure if the battery I am trying to preserve at home by being in airplane mode I just spend it by checking location every 5 minutes.
Another way would be using geolocation but again...same issue so I don't know what to do... if rooting allowed to check SSIDs without location enabled I would root.
