Cloud-Backup

Hello,

Great the view the much better forum 💪

I have some questions with the cloud-backup:
- are they stored on macrodroid-servers?
- Do they run automatically as the local backups?
- Do they only keep 15 last backups as the local backups?

Thanks for any informations about this :)

Yes they are stored on MacroDroid's backend (So not accessible in any other way than through the MacroDroid app).
They are made automatically but not every night like local backups. Instead every time you make a change to your macros there will be a job scheduled for a few hours time and the cloud backup should happen then. The few hours delay is so that it doesn't make many backups in quick succession if you are making multiple changes.
There is a limit of 10 backups per device and a total maximum of 20 backups (the most recent across all devices).

With the cloud backups, I have bandwidth and storage considerations so I have to be a bit careful with limits and frequency. I think what I have should be ok but I need to monitor exactly how much is being used in the long term.

That being said, can we have an action to disable cloud backup? I do not need cloud backup for all my devices and my family do not need it however, I cannot remotely fix it

I don't plan to add an action for this since you have to manually sign in to cloud backup on any given device. If you don't need it for some devices then don't sign in or enable it on the devices and that should be fine.

It's possible you might have caught an early beta version where you were incorrectly signed in if you were signed in to the template store. This could be effecting early adopters in which case you will need to sign out/disable cloud backup on effected devices I'm afraid. But this issue should not effect any new installations of the latest version.

Sorry there is no way to do this and I don't think it would be a useful feature for many users I'm afraid.
@MacroDroidDev
may I remind at least these simple enhancements in

which can be done independently and help enormously in distributing macros to many devices , a capability that interests all users

The trouble is that some features cannot just be automatically imported into another device and there is some configuration/correction that may be required.

@dsnz The suggestions you make are certainly all good ideas. I hope to incorporate at least some of them in the future.

If I'm not mistaken, then the copy on the local cloud is updated automatically after a certain period. But you can change certain settings on your local storage, and all changes will be made at a specific time. Recently I found one Esynergy site and decided to buy small local storage there. And I can say that it was a great decision. I like that you can create many backups (up to 20, if I'm not mistaken), and it's very reliable. Plus, it is very convenient that the copy is constantly updated, and you can access your files anytime.
