Can no longer place macrodroid shortcuts in the Panels app

Currently, if you try to add a macrodroid shortcut to a panel, the dialogue for placing it on the homescreen appears instead. I had though this was a Panels issue, but they say it's on Macrodroid. This used to work, any advice?

I don't think there has been any change to this. I think it's neither MacroDroid or your app's fault but the OS itself.

I have the same issue, although I'm not sure when it started. Interestingly, I can still add a Tasker shortcut to Panels with no problem.

Seems that something did change globally because I can no longer add MD shortcuts anywhere. It always makes me add them to the home screen. Is there an accepted way to submit this as a bug report to the dev? I'm also having issues with AutoWear events not triggering in MD but they do work in Tasker.

Yeah, I'm on A14 with the December security patches from Samsung/Google and OneUI 6. I'm not sure when it stopped working, though. I noticed it after seeing this thread and my device had already updated.

Yes, that's the app. You can add macrodroid shortcuts to Panels? When I and OP try, there or anywhere else, the process ends with the dialog to add the shortcut to the home screen instead of wherever you're trying to add it

I'm using a Samsung Galaxy s23+, A14, December security patches, OneUI6, and right now Nova launcher but I did test with other launchers and always got the same thing.

I think Google or Samsung had to make a change to cause this, but it's interesting that other apps don't have the same problem. I can add Tasker shortcuts with no problem, for instance.

I just tried on A13 with the app and it worked fine. Blame Google.

I have verified with One UI Home, but I am able to place both apps and macro shortcuts.

Oh I know it's something Google did. But half of Android development is fixing what Google has broken, it seems. I'd just like to report it since it seems to work for some apps or some scenarios, though I can't figure out the exact requirements to break it.

I have the same problem. How can this be raised as a bug! I can create shortcuts for other apps like Automate using Panels but not Macrodroid. I have switched from using the Macrodroid Drawer to use Panels and this is a major issue as it is not possible to launch a Macro externally from what I can see!

Can you provide some info on your phone? Model, Android version, manufacturer skin version if applicable (i.e. OneUI for Samsung), launcher you're using, and anything else you can think might be applicable?

This doesn't seem to be affecting all users so I've been trying to figure out if there's some application or setting we have that causes this, but haven't come up with anything yet. I'm not sure we can open a bug report without more info. Or even if we do open a bug report we'll probably still need this info at some point.

Sure no problem
Google Pixel 8 Pro
Android 14 UQ1A.231205.015
Google Pixel Launcher

I presume that apps like Tasker and Automate must spot something in the request to create the shortcut that causes it to behave differently!!

But how do we create a bug report for this?? So that the dev can look at it?
