I'm curious about how to display the CPU temperature of my device.

Have you tried Total Commander? It is free with no ads and very powerful!
Good advice! It seems interesting and able to access some system folders. 👍🏼

But I can't find the one I'm looking for: I guess it really doesn't exist on my device because of my "old" v9 Android version...

Never mind because I don't really need this info with MD as I already get it with KWGT app (nice app too). It was rather a matter of curiosity! 😃

Thanks again.

If KWGT shows the CPU temperature, it is obvious that the data is present somewhere
Try looking here
I understand that someone has succeeded (I don't understand anything about it...)

Your Total Commander app is interesting and powerful enough! Unfortunately "/sys" folder seems to exist but is not accessible so, even if you are quite right ("data must be present somewhere...") I can't reach it.

Just for my understanding, does anybody who has a Galaxy A40 and/or Android v9 can reach such folders "/sys/.../...thermal..."?

I've tested it on the command line, you can enter the folder but not see it's contents. I assume ZArchiver and others puts contents it knows would be there if it could read it.
/sys/devices/virtual/thermal also works.

I think you need root. In my device, Android 12 with root, the "/sys" folder is accessible.

You're probably right but as long as "/sys" in not accessible (on an unrooted device) any subfolder won't be either...

Seems like that's not true if I can access a subfolder without a rooted device myself..
You can use cd to get in the folder without error but you can't use ls.

You're right: "cd" command seems to work (no error msg) but "ls" returns a "permission denied" msg. But how could we read the content of a file we even don't know the name nor the path (as it obviously depends on the device) in non-accessible folders? 🤔
