Macro stops working

Note that you can look at the MacroDroid System Log within a macro as well as from the main menu. Looking at it from within a macro has the nice feature that it shows just the log entries relevant to the macro. Open the macro, click the three vertical dots at the top-right, and select Show Log.

Just in case you can't get the UI Interaction working in MacroDroid anymore, note that MacroDroid also works with a plug-in called "AutoInput". That can simulate clicks etc. in a similar way, via the Accessibility service. I've found sometimes MacroDroid's internal UI Interaction works where AutoInput doesn't -- and vice versa. Somewhat maddening. But might provide a backup option for you.
Thanks so much for your input. I'll definitely look into that 👍

I'm having the same issue. After I reboot my phone, my macros will trigger just fine. Somewhere through the day, they simply stop working and the only way to fix it is another reboot. All settings are correct, battery unrestricted etc... Never had this issue with Tasker on the same device/settings. Something is going on.

I've given up on MacroDroid, it's just been too unreliable. I'm not saying the app is bad, probably with something else. Anyways it wasn't worth dealing with anymore. I have a Samsung S10e and they have an app called Routine+ that I now use to do what I needed MacroDroid to do. That's been working good for me.

a post of the macros and the system log would be helpful
all talk was very general without any concrete data/stuff to check

and I think you started with Xiaomi phone and ended with a Samsung in about 1.5 months ?? you tried MD on both ??

( sorry but I can't help to comment:

a Samsung app on a Samsung phone will of course work without hitch 😂
but .. a Samung app that can do all MD automations ..?
nope impossible, since when ?? 😂
only for simplistic stuff,
and what about the future ? when you will want to do more complex things ?
also, will you buy only Samsung devices to have this app ?
and btw. on my Samsung tablet I can't find it on Galaxy store !
so there is restricted availability for this app ??
and this app depends on Bixby which has a bleak future..

finally, all automation apps need some extra setup so they are free to run and some programmatic capability, you can't expect to dictate them in a minute what you want to do.. some work is needed from the user :) this is something that is beyond typical phone apps and more advanced for the users

of course you are right to use a solution that works for you and indeed it's your best action now and I agree with you 😊
but we should put things in the correct perspective
and if you decide to try again MD and want the community here to help you then you should share some macro code and the system log as I mentioned in the beginning

@dsnz is absolutly right

Many users thinks it's just to push a few buttons and lean back, then the whole world opens for you, naah not in real life

It takes a little more effort and specially reading some wiki's and post's about different issues

Routines+ is a GoodLock module that ads an extention to Bixby and is a not available in every region yet, and not in Denmark but I could install it by using a "backdoor"
All I have to say about this, is if Routines+ fullfills your needs, you don't need MD for these limited possibilities that Routines+ offers

But anyway, I've also got a Galaxy with Android 12 (nonrooted) and with MD's right permissions and so on, it works like expected, a few minor bumps on the road, but after looking in to it, no problem
The most importent thing is granting all the needed permissions and reading (understanding) the different settings mentioned all over again

Everyone is totally free to decide which app to use, for me MD is the best app ever

I was having the same problem. What it just worked here was update my macrodroid 😅 sometimes the solution is quite simple.

I'm having a problem in that regard. My macro starts by going to the home screen and performing the "speak text" action. After completion, it waits 200ms and executes the "text input" action, however, instead of executing this action it just opens the MACRODROID application and cancels subsequent actions. Does anyone know what's happening?

Are there errors in the system log? Share the screenshot of your macro, we can help you better

If the app opens unexpectedly it may mean that the system killed MacroDroid's task. Check system log for this line (enable detailed mode) :
MacroDroid service task removed, attempting restart mechanism

Ok attached. The error happens right after the "speak text" action, which instead of activating the "voice input" action, it just opens the MACRODROID application. Note that I activated the macro at 23:21:50, and found that it performed the actions prior to "voice input", but nothing was recorded in the system log. Does anyone know what's happening?

This particular issue is probably better handled using the report a bug button within the troubleshooting section. Include the relevant macro in your bug report and I will try and recreate the issue you are seeing.

I have already sent the request. How long does it usually take to resolve? Depending on whether I will try to uninstall MD and create the macro from scratch again.

Resolving can take anywhere between a moment and days, but be aware that MacroDroidDev has a lot of emails to go through (also no new version will be uploaded for a specific bug unless it is severe and is experienced by the majority of people).

Yes, I'm afraid this has to be processed along with many, many other emails every day. I will certainly look into it but I can't guarantee any resolution or timescale before I've even looked at it.
