Preferred network type

Hi,

I'd like to know if it's become possible to make a macro in order to change 2G/3G/4G... I know someone asked a few years ago, but the "toggle network type 5" doesn't work on my AOSP based OnePlus 8T rom...

I don't see any posts so it's probably not possible, I tried it before and it didn't work.
My personal opinion is that you don't need to play with this setting as the device will automatically select the best setting for you.

Well no, the device selects 4G and drains my battery :( That's why a simple "when wifi, connect to 3G/2G" would have been nice for me.

Tasker has an action called Mobile Network Type that can be configured, but it did not work as far as I could tell from a little testing.
I'm not sure if this will really save power, but it would be nice if useful information is written down.

I'll give it a try.
Where I live 4G is hard to get and eats up my battery (3% in 3G vs 12-18% in 4G overnight...)
I get -112dBm in 4G vs -80 in 3G.

If 4G is not used much, why not just change the device setting to 2G/3G (Automatic)?

Tasker I have already tried. I found some apps that show the hidden settings of the device and switch them manually, but I couldn't find one that can be switched from command or MacroDroid.

If you are rooted, there is an application in XDA, and you can use it from MacroDroid because it supports Locale/Tasker plugin.
However, I am not responsible for any problems that may occur using this application, so please try it at your own risk.
