Using Google assistant to trigger a macro?

I've made a macro I want to be triggered by Google assistant with a phrase. I found in other posts that saying "run 'macroname' in macrodroid" to the assistant should work.
But the only thing that happens is that macrodroid gets launched.
I've also tried making a routine in the assistant so I only have to say one word as a trigger and it runs the aforementioned run command. But the same thing happens, macrodroid opens and nothing else.

Am I doing something wrong, if so what?

Try saying it in English if you are speaking another language, I can't remember if it only works in English or not.

I have everything in English, both device language and assistant language. It seems like either macrodroid or assistant don't recognize the 'run' command.

Yes! It works! Thank you.
But I wonder why you have to do a workaround? And I wonder if it would execute the macro faster if it worked like it should, because it takes a while from your voice command until the action with this workaround.

I have had a support case open with the Google team for months as there is an issue with the current assistant invocation process. It used to work fine for a long time and with no changes it has stopped working. I have pinpointed the issue and there is nothing I can change as it's server side (their end). In fact everything works correctly when I use their client side test tools so it's very frustrating.

Unfortunately the support for Google assistant appears to be on par with all other Google support channels....

Thank you for the explanation.

Yes, as soon as a company grows beyond a certain point support is no longer a priority it seems.
You just have to wait and see. Or as a very old Swedish saying: Den som lever får se
